If you die leaving no valid Will, your estate will be divided according to the Laws of Intestacy. There is no discretion in the operation of these laws and instead of your estate being administered by the executors you chose in a Will, your estate would be administered by the closest relative living at the date of your death. This can, of itself, cause problems in that you may, for example, have a large family and there may then be difficulties as to which particular individual would take the responsibility.
